    Spotted Lanternfly Quarantine to include Charlottesville and Albemarle County , article

    A serious pest of grapes, peaches, hops and a variety of other crops, the spotted lanternfly (SLF), Lycorma delicatula, was detected in Albemarle County in July 2021. Since then, the insect and its eggs have been found at several locations throughout the City and County. Now, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) is expanding the state's spotted Lanternfly quarantine areas to include Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
